Chestnut Panel Showing A Typical Longleaf Floor The general appeal of Chestnut is its high degree of "character", and typically our Chestnut is rustic in character. Chestnut varies a great deal in color.  It can be as dark as chocolate or as light as latte.  Worm holes are present in varying degrees, as are knots and nail holes.  We allow drying checks on occasion, and we often "mend" boards.  Mended boards may contain "butterflies", plugs or "Dutchmen".

Chestnut ~ From Salvaged Boards

Chestnut From Salvaged Boards Usually reclaimed from barns and houses, boards tend to be dark and wormy. On occasion, boards can be very wide (over 20"). Usual widths range from 4" to 10". If a dramatic "rustic" look is desired, this is probably your option.

Chestnut ~ Resawn From Beams

Chestnut Resawn From Beams Milled from beams salvaged from mills, warehouses and barns, this material is generally brighter in tone than its salvaged board sibling. Because we saw from large sticks, we can provide our customers with dimensional lumber if needed. For customers who are looking for non-wormy chestnut, resawn material is the way to go. Usual widths range from 4" to 10". ***** CONCERNING CLEAR CHESTNUT ****  On occasion we come across Chestnut which is pretty clear, but typically our material is rustic in character. If you have atypical chestnut needs, call us to discuss them.
